Well, after seeking a secure and high return investment account to bank my winnings from our Applecross Rotary Tipping Comp, time to get back to business!
DG’s Visit.
For those unable to attend DG Ineke’s visit to our 4 Melville RC’s last Monday evening, I can honestly say you did miss a great evening. Hosted by Attadale and with over 50 present, Ineke spoke strongly about the future of Rotary WA, and the impact of Regionalisation especially how we can mould this to suit our District over the 3year trial period. This trial commenced on the 1st July, and completes end June 2026. She noted that much of the progress being undertaken in and by Rotary WA was being closely watched by others in our Region (Zone 8), with the hard work of setting up and activating key District guidelines a key to future success.

Important meeting on 1st October.
With each Rotary Western Australia (RWA) Club to attend a special meeting on 1st October, the aim is to have all RWA Clubs working towards establishing ‘common interest cluster/community groupings’ with a nominated Community Leader for each grouping. It is planned that this should take place from July next year, with each Community Grouping working together, under their Community Leader, to position Rotary for stronger community awareness and relevance. Community Leaders will be just that: nominated and selected for their capability to lead their Rotary community groups. There are likely to be 12 or so Rotary Communities in WA, so it will be busy role for those who take it on. This is our future, so let’s get behind it and help make it happen!
Club Reports at the DG Meeting.
Each Club presented an update on their activities and plans, with Brett Hammill providing a concise for Applecross. Presidents of Attadale, Booragoon and Melville also gave insights into their community work, which I know was well received and generated lots of talk at the close of the meeting. Working together for better outcomes resonates well within our group of Clubs!
Important: Rotary Leadership Institute.
I attended the last Leadership meeting and can highly recommend to any member with an eye for their future in Rotary. Great presentations and truly relevant to better understanding how Rotary works, and how to get the best out of what we do and share. When: over 2 x Sundays, the 8th and 22nd of October, 8 am to 4.30 pm. At Mt Lawley Senior High, register online. No cost to participate, meals etc
