Hear ye, hear ye, ho ho ho!
Our Sundowner Christmas get-together is set for Sunday the 8th of Dec, from 5.30 pm. We have caterers booked to provide finger foods or/ and something a little more substantial.
Originally the plan was to hold this at the Jeff Joseph Reserve, on the foreshore near Applecross Tennis Club. However with the cancellation of the Kiind disabled kids BBQ in a busy pre Xmas lead up for parents, this leaves us with other options to consider.
The photo below is of our member John Henderson’s Water Feature at Mt Henry Bridge Reserve, tucked in amidst a very attractive kids playground. You can see it in the central foreground. It is certainly getting lots of kids use as it is largely filled with sand and as a water feature, well…. Not too sure! I will speak to the CoM about who looks after this.
Thinking is that we hold our Xmas Sundowner here, and we can all view what John’s generous offer has provided. It certainly has a small plaque acknowledging our role.
It is a lovely setting with overall parking for just over 40 cars… enough for us but could be a squeeze if it gets late Sunday visitors. There is no BBQ facility in place, but toilets and plenty of lawns and shade in an extensive park area.
Any comments one way or another please. If parking is a concern we can always take advantage of Wireless Hill which has everything we need. I will check with the City for availability of both sites

A sincere thank you to Dany and Peter for hosting a very successful BBQ Sundowner on Friday night. Haven’t they done a fabulous job with their new pool and garden area!
We had over 30 attending and the late call was that we should plan to hold similar style Sundowners perhaps on a quarterly basis. Couldn’t agree more! We will work on another one for late summer/early Autumn ‘25.
