Brett, Cran and I, along with Louis Koeppen, (when not at Uni) visited the business behind the sensory room technology and design/supply which is set to help kids with sensory based disabilities… autism being one, better manage their environments.

It was very impressive and one can readily visualise how this type of activity based learning experience would help those with such learning issues. Interactive, fully of colours, touchy feelies and all underlying the improved learning opportunities presented. It is this type of equipment that we will be supporting Cran’s Senior School source and install, utilising whatever funding sources that we can muster along the way.

We then met with MP Hannah Beazley, Member for VIC Park, and outlined our project and seeking her support and commitment towards that end. She was very empathetic, having her own son who has special needs.

However, and of greater concern, is the general run down state of the school, and Cran also took this up with Hannah… she again was very understanding, going on to say that Kent Street High, nearby, was even in a greater need of attention!

It beggars belief that our school system is SOOOO short of money that even the basic maintenance and repair jobs go unattended for years, including the most basic of safety matters relating to the kids!  Having visited the school, we have seen it first hand …. It is hard to believe that this is 2023!

It truly must break Cran’s heart to have to work, and lead his school, when this is the best the bureaucracy can throw up. The school just has to make do with virtually NOOO money, certainly for safety and M&R.

Another reason that Teachers must be finding it difficult to be believed in!
