Hope everyone has had a fantastic week, bar any Dockers supporters. Acton has finally become Acton | Belle Property which has been a slow but much needed transition and have some exciting new initiatives to offer clients.

Last week was a fantastic talk from our member Mike Smith. So interesting hearing about the different journeys that we all take. From pro wrestler to prison guard and future social worker, I look forward to hearing many more interesting stories.

Some big events coming up for the club! Perth Makers Market, MCCC Business After Hours and Jacaranda festival. So keep an eye out, as there are plenty of work to go.

Looking forward to tomorrows meeting with PDG John Kevan speaking to us about “Books & Guitars”. PDG Melody will also be joining John and this is extra special as I hear tomorrow is Melody's birthday.

KENYAN PROJECT UPDATE

The toilet block (GG2233171) is about 50% completed with an estimated completion in December 2022. Construction of the co-joined Special Needs Unit proceeds and is funded by a grant from DFAT and donations from MAMA Respond. Applecross Rotary, RC Embakasi and MAMA Respond are working to scope the fit out necessary to make these buildings functional. A new Global Grant will request multi Rotary District support for the fit out. The anticipated costs are around US$50K and the Global Grant application needs formal Applecross Rotary Board approval.

As Club Presidents commence casting their vote this week, please remember that this is a pilot that will occur whilst districts remain in place, that ongoing consultation will be a feature and further voting will be necessary to confirm aspects of the pilot that work. Club autonomy and the provision of better support to clubs are fundamental principles that underpin the pilot.

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION - MELBOURNE

This is a unique opportunity to attend a Rotary International Convention. As Chris Whelan pointed out the "RI convention comes to Australia once in an adult life". The event runs from the 27th of May to 30th May 2023. Chris has shared his plans based on arriving 26 May and departing 30 May as follows:
