Congratulations to this week's guest speaker Tanya Dupagne for being awarded an honorary doctorate from ECU on Monday night.  Your presentation to our Club on your amazing work you have done to improve the lives of many children,  through initiatives such as 'Camp Kulin', is truly inspiring.

Also thank you to Rotarian Leanne Knowler from the Baldivis Club for joining us for breakfast and promoting the Rotary in WA  48th Ladies Seminar and Luncheon.

Looking forward to our 'Special Invitation Dinner' next Wednesday evening to launch our new Membership classification of Associate and to welcome our first Associate Members. REMEMBER our Tuesday's breakfast meeting has been cancelled.
Guest Speaker Tanya Dupagne: CAMP KULIN
“One person may not be able to change the world but we can change the world for one person – how good is that?”
As well as having the world’s largest water slide in an Australian rural town, and an annual Bush Racing Weekend in October (already sold out for 2019), complete with tin horses, there is also Camp Kulin, and Tanya had come along to tell us all about it!

GREENBATCH - What you can recycle
Recycle NOW with Greenbatch.  Why? Because if you put your recyclable plastic container in the council recycling bin, it is baled up and sold to the global waste market and shipped overseas. Greenbatch Processing will be WA's first waste plastic processing plant, capturing the local plastic waste market.

Directors and Chairs

Kenn Williams noted there would be an evening meeting next Wednesday 18 September (and NO TUESDAY BREAKFAST MEETING) to welcome Associate Members, Fellowship from 6.15pm (and order Dinner) and then sit down at 7.00pm.
Liz Palmer reminded members there is a Cluster Dinner with members from our three neighboring Clubs the following Wednesday at John McGrath Pavillion, next to the South Perth Civic Centre.
Ray Philp reported on the Greenbatch Open Day he had attended with Suresh Prabhakaran last weekend and he will recommend action for our Club once he has digested all the information presented.

HAPPY DOLLARS
Lots of them this week because the Eagles had a good win and the Aussie Test Team had an even better one.  Ian Fairnie invited all the women present to join him is showing their happiness that the Australian Senate will soon be the first house of Parliament in Australia to have equal numbers of men and women.
Lesley Combes also paid up for winning the wine, thanks to Chris Whelan’s expert tossing, again.
from Kenn Williams Membership Director
Applecross Rotary has endorsed the new Membership classification of ASSOCIATE.

This invitation is to those members of our community who give willingly to ongoing support of Applecross Rotary, but may not wish to become a full Member of Rotary.

Whilst many of our loyal supporters are partners of AxRotary Members, there are many others who make themselves available to help us with our many community projects.

Applecross Rotary want to officially recognise our key helpers with this new Associate Membership offer, and a special welcome evening is planned for the above date.

For those accepting our invitation, you will be presented with an Associate Member badge, and be welcomed to join some special Applecross Rotary activities during the year. Other than this, your supporting role will not change in any way at all unless you want it too... ie, apply for full Membership or join one of our active community based committees.

Details of the welcome evening which will take the place of a regular Club meeting.

DATE and TIME:  Wed 18th of September, 6pm/6.15 for a 7 pm start
LOCATION:         DOME Cafe, The Esplanade, Mt Pleasant.

If you are unable to attend on the evening, or do not wish to become a part of our Associate Membership at this time, please advise me at your early opportunity.
This will certainly not be a once off invitation to join as an Associate: if we have missed an obvious supporter on this occasion,  then please advise for due consideration

From the RULES OF ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP included, you will note a cost of $20 annual fee. This is to support the cost of an ASSOCIATE name badge and ongoing Rotary administration fees.

I will be in touch by phone over the next couple of days in order to confirm acceptances for both the Associate Member and Welcome evening on the 18th.
