MC Chris Dawson opened the meeting and Gordon Dunbar conducted heads and tails with the winner being our honorary member Chris Back, Another virtual bottle of wine was produced and presented to Chris. I have it on good authority that Ian Fairnie was some how going to make it to the local shops to restock our prize cabinet. REPORTS Kenn Williams advised the meeting that the new trailer for the Club has been ordered from John Papas Trailers. The specs are - 8x5 single axle; toolbox on front bar; side mesh cage that can be removed and also have signage displayed on; and ramps on back tailgate to enable the likes of our CDS collection bins to be wheeled on and off the trailer. Delivery is six to eight weeks. Membership Director Peter McEwen asked members to take a couple of membership nomination forms he provided at the meeting. The aim is for every member to nominate two prospective members and the membership committee will follow up with the people identified. Peter said with a decline of our membership for various reasons, we need to "put our thinking caps on" and put forward two names. Peter also gave an update on the Nepal project saying that due to Covert-19 the project has been put to aside, however Attadale Rotary was meeting to discuss contributing to the project. Youth Director Logan Duncan-Smith again reminded the meeting that RYPEN will be held from the 11th - 13th September with applications closing on the 1st September and asked members to lookout for suitable candidates. Also looking for candidates for RYLA being held from the 16th to 23rd January 2021. Logan puts out a quarterly newsletter to his clients and also gets an additional number of around 500 that he randomly distributes throughout the area. This quarter he featured Applecross Rotary in the newsletter with a call to action for people who may be interested in joining us. President Ray advised that the changeover details have been confirmed with the event being held at the Raffles Hotel on Wednesday 29 July from 6:30pm. The function will be substantial finger foods served and a cash bar will be available. There will be plenty of opportunity to move around as well as seating being provided. This is an important celebration of PP Barry's year and a great start to Applecross's 50th Year Anniversary. Barry has some special recognitions to present that includes the awarding of an inaugural Applecross Rotary LIFE MEMBERSHIP. Your attendance will be greatly appreciated. HAPPY DOLLARS MC Chris on behalf of the club wished Lesly Coombes a happy birthday and mentioned Chris Whelan who passed around a card for members to sign, will be visiting Lesley today (14 July). There were no other celebrations so Chris asked members for general fines. - Kenn Williams suggested Dockers and Eagles fans should be happy their teams finally had a win in the Queensland hub. Tom Atkinson made an unhappy eftpos payment for his team St Kilda.
- Ray Philp highlighted the tipping ladder as he shot to the top with 8 out of 9 correct tips.
- Chris Back paid a fine on behalf of Ian Fairnie who undertook a 'scientific study' recently to find out the comfort levels of hospital rooms compared to his own bed. After 13 nights in hospital and 1 night in his own bed he declared his own bed was the most comfortable! Chris said Ian should pay the fine due to the scientific inequalities of his research. Ian replied the research continues.
- A question was raised to the whereabouts of the silver teapot to which Ian replied it is in a box in his loungeroom and he will bring it along to Rotary next meeting.
