It was a special meeting this week with our Rotary Exchange student Connor Ovens "zooming" in from Germany to give us an update on his youth exchange experience.
He will arrive back in WA in around 6 weeks time, and will have to isolate in a hotel for 2 weeks. However he will be home for Christmas and ready to start University early next year.
Very proud of the resilience of this young man in staying on through the pandemic and pleased he has been rewarded in the last 3 months with seeing and experiencing his host country.
TASTE OF CHITTERING
Looking forward to our social event this Sunday organised by Lorri and Liz to the 'Taste of Chittering'. There are still some places available so if you want to check out the produce, wine and country lifestyle of the greater Chittering region get on board .The bus will be leaving at 9am from the car park at Garden City Booragoon.
LIFT THE LID on mental illness
At our breakfast meeting on Tuesday 20 October lets celebrate HAT DAY and raise some funds as part of 'Lift the Lid on Mental Illness', Australian Rotary Health's national fundraising and awareness campaign for mental health research.
Put on a silly hat for a donation of $5 or more to enter the 'Applecross Rotary Silly Hat' competition. Let's join other Rotary clubs around Australia to raise much needed funds for mental health research.
A regular visitor to our club around this time of the year is visiting Rotarian Roger Painter from the Rotary Club of South Cowichan (Mill Bay) in Canada. Unfortunately due to the Pandemic, Roger has not been able to visit his family in WA this year and we have not had the pleasure of his company at our breakfast meetings.
Roger will be joining us via Zoom at our meeting tomorrow. Roger is currently the Rotary Foundation Director for his club.
