The weather hasn’t yet decided whether it’s winter, spring or summer. The following photos were taken recently in Bunker Bay and Denmark.
One thing for sure is that we are into November, our Club’s busiest month, and 2021 is drawing to a close! Following are some November dates of note:
  • 2 November – Melbourne Cup breakfast
  • 7 November – Perth Makers Market
  • 10 November – MCCC Awards Planning Committee Meeting
  • 14 November – Lift The Lid Walk (3km) hosted by Booragoon
  • 16 November – Melville Volunteering Sundowner
  • 27 November – 21st Jacaranda Festival
  • 30 November – Evening meeting, Dr Mark Duncan-Smith, WA President AMA

Annual General Meeting on 9 November 2021
As usual, our AGM will be held as part of our normal meeting.
If any member would like to take on a new role in 2022/23, then please let me know.
Jacaranda Festival 21
Promotion of JacFest 21 is underway with signs erected this morning at the corners of Ardross and MacDonald Streets. Thanks to the team who assisted. We hope to attract a record crowd for our 21st running of the event.
Melville Cockburn Chamber of Commerce (MCCC)
Our Club was officially welcomed as a member last Thursday night at the MCCC’s Sundowner. IPP Ray and PE Logan were presented with a membership certificate.
Our aim is not only to promote Rotary through the association, but also to develop annual Apprentice, Youth and Business Awards for the two cities. The next Award’s Planning Committee meeting is scheduled for 10 November 2021.
Speaking of Sundowners, we would like to thank George Mavros for hosting last Thursday’s event. The evening was well attended and enjoyed by all.

The question is 'will Kenn win the BEST dressed' ?  again this year!  Honest Mal, our Club bookie, has $5 and $2 sweeps and if you can't make the meeting and would like to be in the sweeps click here We will text you the horse that you draw and you can join us on the club's Facebook private group.
Guest Speaker Phil Cordery - ROMAC
Our speaker for last meeting was PDG Phil Cordery who is the current Western Region Chair for ROMAC (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children).  Phil is also the President of the Rotary Club of Southern Districts.
ROMAC is a project of Rotary Clubs in Australia and New Zealand. Their mission is to provide surgical treatment for children in Australia and New Zealand from developing countries from our Pacific region, in the form of life giving and dignity restoring surgery not available to them in their home country.
Patients are generally identified by visiting medical practitioners, travelling Rotarians, by the web or word of mouth.
The work is expensive despite the use of Volunteers and the generous involvement of professional Practitioners. Most of the surgeons give freely of their time and there are arrangements with hospitals, State Governments and Foundations which account for half of the costs.  ROMAC still needs to find about $15000 per patient which means they need to find about $750000 Australia wide per year to be able to support about 30-40 operations. ROMAC cannot exist without the support of Rotary Clubs.

A Special Free Sundowner for all volunteers in the City of Melville.
