What an Amazing Day! 🌸💜
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the Applecross Rotary Jacaranda Festival! It was a picture-perfect sunny day, spent browsing incredible handmade vendors, savouring delicious food, enjoying lively entertainment, and celebrating the wonderful local community. 🌞✨
We’d like to extend a special thanks to our amazing stallholders for showcasing their incredible talents, and to MarketLife for their exceptional work in helping organise the event.
This festival wouldn’t be possible without the support of our generous sponsors, including our major sponsors City of Melville and Lotterywest. A heartfelt thank you also goes to The Good Grocer, MONT, Ross North Homes, Pharmacy 777, and Riviere Residences for their contributions.
And, of course, our deepest gratitude to the Applecross Rotary team and our fantastic Rotary volunteers – your hard work truly brings this community event to life. 🎉
Here’s to another successful year of the Applecross Rotary Jacaranda Festival – we can’t wait to see you all again next year! 🌸💜
Co - President's Notes Tom Atkinson & Murray McKay

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

Phew, we did it again … what a triumph!

Well done everyone on yet another amazing Jacaranda Festival, the 24th edition of this tremendous community event. I hope all who contributed as volunteers or supporters feel the satisfaction of a job well done.

Although many put in a super effort yesterday and during the preparation, we would like to especially thank Chris Whelan as leader of the well organised planning team, and those on the festival working group who have been part of a 12 month cycle to get this event up and running again this year. Whilst the financial details of the day are still to emerge, the majority of stall holders and visitors continue to be happy with the Rotary Jacaranda Festival concept, even in the face of many other events being held in the city yesterday.

As a reminder of the impact of our good work through this major fundraising event, today marks the start of Starick's "16 days in WA" campaign to stop Domestic Violence in all its forms. Funds from the Jacaranda Festival will be used to support Starick in a number of ways, not least the kids Christmas Party which Applecross Rotary have the privilege of supporting each year.

A sincere thank you to the City of Melville, LotteryWest and our local partners and sponsors who continue to provide much needed operational funding for the Jacaranda Festival, and to the many Rotary and Community groups who assisted us on the day. Also thank you to the team at Market Life whose expertise allows us to grow the event and its reach year after year.

Onwards and upwards for next year, the 25th iteration of JacFest!

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST MEMBER MICHELE MUIR
At last week's meeting, Membership Director Margaret Brede and co-President Murray McKay officially welcomed Michelle Muir into the Applecross Rotary family. During the same meeting, Chris Whelan guided us through the final planning briefing for JacFest 2024. It was wonderful to have Michelle join us during this particularly busy and exciting time of the year!

Members responded well to the request to attend this important meeting to go through the final planning and actions for JacFest2024.  The roving photographer captured the following pictures of some of the attendees -

Greg Hebble (left, with Jamie Kelly) brought us the news that WFKA founder Brother Ollie is WA’s latest nomination for Australian Senior of the Year.

George Mavros (left) led the Rotary JacFest team 20 years ago, see here with our Attendance Officer
Tony Haeusler

Punny man Roger Painter will be with us until February and will tell us what his Club in Canada has been up to, early in 2025

GIVE A FEED 2024
Give a Feed is an annual festive season campaign providing hampers to families in need around Western Australia.

Our shared 2024 goal is to provide 3,000 or more hampers. Each $50 hamper holds almost 10 kg of non-perishable food to help in preparing a festive meal for a family or four.

Hampers are distributed by Foodbank WA’s charity partners, and its regional network.

The identify of recipient families remains private, so the dignity of all is respected.

How can you help?

Spread the
Word …          tell your friends, family and business networks; or volunteer at local events, particularly in November/December;

Share the
Campaign …  on your social media channels, or with local community leaders, community notice boards, news or radio;

Corporate
Gifting …       access your business networks, and help others to give hampers acknowledging staff, clients/customers, suppliers etc;

Donate … as individuals, families or groups.

For more, use the QR code above.
Your generous donation of hampers helps fellow Western Australian families doing it toughest. This provides special moments of joy and happiness, especially for families with children, at this very special time of the year.

Together we can make them smile!

Donations are tax deductible
