David Archibald’s book is an invaluable resource for all those interested in reducing their risk to cancer through diet. It lists the plants that have been investigated for their anticancer properties and why. It contains an extensive bibliography that readers can use to learn more. It doesn’t try to be a guidebook to alternative medicine or a recipe book to cure specific ailments. Perhaps the most fascinating chapter is Archibald’s short history of chemotherapy and how it attempts to work. By focusing on the wherefores it is the opposite of those books which with scant preliminaries attempt to offer remedies without offering understanding.
