We have raised sufficient funds for the first part of the education facility with additional Rotary clubs coming on board in the New Year to reach the fundraising target of $150,000. The good news is that Rotary and Greenbatch are now formally working together as covered in the original MOU. The next main objective is getting the clubs organised for the Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) program. This has to start NOW as other non profit and profit organisations are actively recruiting container donations. This is done by presenting and explaining the Greenbatch collection contract to local businesses, with proceeds going into Applecross Rotary's fund raising account to be spent back in the community through Rotary projects. At the recent 'Falls Festival' Rotary and Greenbatch volunteers collected 39000 CDS eligible containers. Not only great for the environment but an excellent example of the fund raising potential of the CDS program. |
