Our guest speakers for last week's meeting were Wayne Smith "Give A Feed' and Oscar Wharton.
Oscar gave us an update on Foodbank WA with the following stats on what they are delivering:
- support to nearly 8,000 cardholders each month through their network
- food and groceries to 380 frontline charities
- breakfast and fruit to 492 schools feeding 26000 children weekly
- education programs for over 5,100 children, adults and parents
They provide almost 7.8 million meals to those who are doing it tough.
Wayne gave the background on Give a Feed:
- started in 2012
- Wayne Smith and Aaron Pitt in conjunction with Rotary Club of Heirisson and Foodbank WA
- has raised more than 26000 hampers
- 2022 is the 11year of Give a Feed
- connects the WA community to help the most vulnerable families at Christmas
Give a Feed is a cause driven by passionate people ensuring that Christmas Hampers will be sent to West Australian Families in need so they can celebrate Christmas and not go hungry.
The goal for 2022 is A BIG YEAR:
- 3,000 plus hampers
- $30 each
- current record in 1 year is 3977 (2021)
- overtake the milestone of 30,000 hampers
Community Service director Brett Hammill has organised for the Club to volunteer to pack hampers on Thursday 24th November from 8:30am to around 1:30pm. We need about 20 people so please encourage family and friends if they are interested to join us. Please register names with Brett.
