Wheelchairs for Kids

What an amazing Rotary story this is, as was outlined by both Valentin, and Peter, from Scarborough Rotary.

Now lead by CEO Greg Hebble, and Associate Member of AxR, this project which commenced in 1998, has now produced its 60,000th wheel chair and these have been sent out to over 100 countries where kids with limited mobility can now claim some independence and pride. It is good to see that our WA Govt has supported with over $900,000, equating to almost 3,700 wheelchairs, and our Premier and other key politicians were on hand in support of this amazing milestone.

An outstanding commitment from Rotary, with Greg now taking it to the next level.

Like our own Jacaranda Festival, it is just so important to take the long view when you have something worth committing to.

Comedy Evening.

Initially we had what appeared to be strong Club support for the comedy evening at South Perth on Friday evening, the 27th of September.

To date only 3 members, plus partners, have committed.

Only $20/ pp, local, easy parking for an evening of laughs… why are we all staying away!

Not too late to join in…let me know asap.

Rotary Community Groups.

We are part of the 11 Rotary Club Community Group under David Barton, as our Community Leader.

It held its first meeting on Sunday afternoon and no doubt Tom will update on the outcomes. However sufficient to say, I think that it was a strong start to rebuilding our broader community engagement with the wonderful work that individual Rotary clubs undertake.

Lots to be done to activate the selected projects at our Rotary Community level, but we do need to make it happen if we are turn around the current decline in our membership and engagement.

It will only happen if we make it happen!!
