On the sad passing of our Dr Ian Fairnie AM
One week Ian was with us ... then he had passed away!
Our thoughts are foremost with Ian's family at this sad time.
For Applecross Rotary and Ian's vast friendship and network connections, we will all miss his true commitment to helping make a better world: for mentoring so many younger people over so many years, especially Uni Students, in being a real stalwart for our Rotary community and in ensuring that our 'so many in need' were spoken for and supported.
In his life as a veterinarian he had travelled the world and he was well recognised for his commitment to his profession. His meeting with and lobbying US President Jimmy Carter was a real highlight.
Since his life partner and fellow AxR member Helen passed away, Ian had soldiered on, and more recently, being stoic in dealing with his declining health issues.
We thank our late fellow Rotary traveler for his friendship and commitment over many years, and he will be so sadly missed.
Vale Ian, and safe travels on your next journey to meet up with your Helen again.
My thoughts for a man who truly made his mark in our world.…
