ELEVEN Years and Counting

What started out as an appeal for Club Sponsorship to Greg Brindle for local business to support the great work of Applecross Rotary,  is now in its 11th year, and highlights the benefits of maintaining a close relationship and working together with our Sponsors.

Chris Whelan and I met with our 4 Sponsors, The Good Grocer, Mont Realty, Pharmacy777 and Ross North Homes last Friday and presented a review of the planning for the 2026 JacFest. We made a point of noting that the ongoing success of the event continues to present an opportunity for their businesses to capitalise on the community success of both Applecros Rotary and the event itself.

Incidentally, Ross North Homes is now in its 50th year as a family business with Ross handing over the day to day running to his two sons. Well done Ross!

Our Sponsors were impressed with the financial numbers behind its success, and the priority 'give back' to local groups and charities who support the day.

This is what they are keen to see.

Certainly last year was a standout, with both record crowds and funds collected.

And it's not just about the sponsorship support now heading towards $180k, but also the willingness to join with Applecross Rotary in the day itself, and be a part of the local community spirit that makes it so successful.

As I have said many times, never ever take this relationship for granted, especially in todays crowded world of competition for community dollars and business survival.

Count ourselves very lucky to have an 11 year and counting sponsorship in place supporting our needy community.

We will be presenting each of these businesses with a Paul Harris Fellowship at their staff get-togethers in the lead up to Christmas in recognition of their outstanding community support.

MCCC support for RYLA as the Partnership gets underway.

As President Margaret mentioned last week, we have the opportunity to have business members of the MCCC nominate RYLA participants for Youth Leadership 8 day training camp held at Serpentine Camping Centre each January.

It is normal for the nominating party to fund the camp costs of $1,100 with a Rotary Club to help with some of the nominal costs.

Work now to be done to get the message out to the MCCC businesses and have interest responses back by late November and assess the outcome for support.

Melville Rotary have also launched their Murdoch School of Business Mentoring program with MCCC businesses, so our planned Partnership with that body is now off to a good start.
