How wonderful for a group of AxR old mates of John Henderson to catch up with him over lunch on the 1st of July, chatting over a lot of history, and yet with an eye for tomorrow.
John, a Life Member of Applecross and well into his mid 90's, and despite having lost the love of his life, Helen some time back, remains as bright as ever and is great company.
The one thing that stuck in my mind was his comments about how important Rotary has been in his life, and the enduring and strong friendships that he has made as a result.
I surely hope that when/ if my time leads me into my 90's, I too can have my well built Rotary relationships take me out for a meal or a drink every now and then and help retain one of the hidden values of being a member of our club truly alive!
As the clock ticks, we must never under value the benefits of true friendships and the happy state of mind it helps create.
